Interview with MSK

Mindset knowledge analysis and Management MSK Therapy

(Interview with corporate psychologist MSK muhaiyudddin CEO  MSK life clinic foundation)

M2S. What is mindset?

MSK: Experienchich are then used to perform assumptions about themselves and the world, ind is termed as mindse perceive, influence and evaluate behselves. Mindset. This state of mind

M2S: If it is so, then where is the need to manage mindset?

MSK: Many a times the mindsete the assumptions so formed are irrational, MSing, rigid, resistance to change. Further, they become rigid and their belief sprout life becomes negative of about the world becomes negative. This would result in poor performance, hostility and ineffective team performance. Avoiding such problems require managing of mindset.

M2S: What are the consequences in the organisational context?

MSK: In the present scenario, organisations expect the individual to show performance as a team. Sometimes that despite high wages and excellent working conditions, a work group or team is performing very poorly. The key reason is that when individuals work together on a task social loafing sometimes occurs. That is the reduced output by each group member. But, the general presumption is that when people work in group, contribution by each member will improve.

M2S: What is alternative available to solve the problem?

MSK: Groups can reduce social loafing in several ways: by making outputs Individually identifiable, by increasing commitment to the task and sense of task Importance, and by building group cohesiveness. Cognitive behaviour therapy facilitates each individual to know self and his/her role in the workplace and in the society. The realistic view will only make them to perform effectively.

M2S: Can you explain the cognitive behaviour therapy?

MSK: Sure. There are two phases in it. One is long term and the other short-term. Short-term is useful in changing the behaviour based on the symptoms of cognitive dissonance. For example, If you do not wear safety helmet, there is a possibility that you may encounter accident and consequently die. Having known the fact, you do not wear helmet and want to depict yourself as a hero in the presence of other workers. This is a symptom of Inferiority complex. Cognitive behaviour therapy would enable the individual to improve self-esteem and make him escape from the problem.

In the long-term process, the therapy takes care of cognition, behaviour and physiology. Just like statistical inference, people are made to build hypothesis about their behaviour and make various impact analysis. When they make cognitive changes by changing their thoughts and beliefs, they get a different view of their life. The long-term process is a self-help method to change to view of life and make it a permanent one. All their negative feelings and thoughts are wiped out from their system.

M2S: In practical life, very few industries make use of such facilities. Is there any specific reason for this?

MSK: It is part of labour welfare. Now a days HRD concept is thriving and the counselling is done by individuals who possess Social Work qualification of Diploma in Counselling and guidance. But, for every practical purpose, a full- fledged psychologist can perform better and the results would be quick and permanent. One more reason is that both management and the workers prefer to approach a psychiatrist than a psychologist. They believe in medicine than the mind changing. Changing the mindset is the best one. 85% of the people who died of snake-bite have died because their psychological feeling that they may die and not because of the poison. Severe and chronic cases which compulsorily need medicine only need to approach psychiatrists. In my practice over years, many patients who were claimed to incurable by psychiatrists were cured permanently. Even today many cases are referred to me by physician.

M2S: Really we are thankful to you for the inspiring thoughts on CBT and mindset knowledge therapy.
